about dana e. salter

Briefly

I am Curriculum and Instruction doctoral student in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University (Montreal, Canada). I am currently writing up my dissertation, “Learner identity construction in digital environments by ‘at-risk’ youth” under the supervision of Dr. Doreen Starke-Meyerring.

Other research interests

I look at how collaborations between community partnerships, after school programs, university research groups and the digital technology industry can, in re-invisioned inclusive schools settings, influence the range of educational possibilities for all youth both in and out of schools.

  1. I am a layperson also interested in human potential, especially in intercultural contexts. I recently saw an online product ad campaign that references IQ’s of prominent persons and saw USA Pres. Barack Obama’s listed as 125. I would like to solicit your views on cross-cultural intelligence measures (vis-a-vis the standard IQ test), technology literacy in human potential, and ways to harness and integrate technology in survivability of indigenous cultures. To my understanding, IQ is measured on a logarithmic scale, so it seems to me to be even more difficult to measure genius outside of the normative group. Are there tools or suggestions for measuring a person like Pres. Obama’s IQ and would you hazard a guess based on your specializations.
